On 06/1999 , implementing the Agreement between the Government of the two countries , Laos Vietnam Joint Venture Bank ( LaoVietBank ) was established on the basis of cooperation between the two leading banks in Vietnam and Laos, Investment and Commercial Bank development of Vietnam ( BIDV ) and the Bank for Foreign trade of Laos ( BCEL ) .
      Launched with initial mission is to connect the two economies of the two countries Vietnam - Laos, to be  attentioned, facilitated by the granting Party, the State, ministries of the two countries, the direct support BIDV and BCEL, over the past 15 years accompanied with the development of Laos, LaoVietBank has gradually stabilized and developed to contribute actively to the implementation of fiscal and monetary policy, service economic developing goals of the Lao society as well as economic , trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. In 15 years of operation, the accumulated sales conversion transfered via Laovietbank  between the two countries reached nearly $ 1.8 billion, sales conversion VND / LAK nearly 9,500 billion VND, fully meet the needs of businesses of the two country, contribute to reduce the demand for dollars in payment and contribute actively to the implementation of macroeconomic monetary stability policy of the Laos government.
      After 15 years of operation , particularly after the sharp increase of the charter capital and the change of possession rate with BIDV owns 65% and BCEL owns 35%  , LaoVietBank has experienced strong growth , becoming one of the largest-scale banks operating in Laos , is a model of business cooperation between the two countries , particularly the friendly relations of the two- State special Laos - Vietnam ,  becoimg the 2nd Bank for the scale of the charter capital ( 70 million dollars ) , the fourth Bank largest in terms of market share of total assets.
      Regarding information technology , LaoVietBank has successfully implemented the Corebanking system conversion projects worth up to  $ 4.3 million - the system is ranked top 3 in the world, the most modern in Laos up to now. On the other hand , with orientation to become the leading retail bank in Laos on a modern technology platform , LaoVietBank focused on researching and developing more and more banking products and services on the basis of using Corebanking system to meet the  rich and diverse needs of the clients, interprises and individuals, in Laos
      Besides business tasks , LaoVietBank always acted as a leading bank in the work of social security in Laos with a series of financing programs , including recent highlights are committed financing for LaoVietBank restoration project , regenerating Vieng Xay revolutionary in Hua Phan province worth up to $ 30 million on 3/2013 , during the visit and work of both the Prime Minister of Laos and Vietnam in the Northern provinces of Laos .
      In oriented goals and vision to 2020 , LaoVietBank banks strive to become the leading bank in serving economic ties Vietnam - Laos ; Top 2 leading banks in Laos in scale ; Top 2 among non-state bank of Laos in the field of retail banking with the basic norms ; is one of the first banks in Laos are highly evaluated by credit rating agencies and rated equivalent to the National Class

      In recognition of the continued efforts of the unit contribute to the development of the economy -  society of Laos as well as nurtured , developed a relationship of comprehensive cooperation Vietnam - Laos , at the ceremony , Vietnam Laos joint venture bank was honored to receive the Medal of Second Labour chairman of the Lao PDR and the Friendship Medal of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam awarded ; Compliment letter of Mr Thoong Sỉng THĂM MẠ VÔNG, the Prime Minister of Laos,  and Mr  Nguyen Sinh Hung, Chairman of  Socialist Republic of Vietnam
      On this occasion , Laos Vietnam Joint Venture Bank in collaboration with the National Political Publishing - Fact organized to introduce the book " LaoVietBank - 15 years of achievements". The book is a meticulous work, with great historical value is fully replayed the process of birth , construction and growth of LaoVietBank over time , as well as the role and contribution of Laoviebank in promoting economy-sociaty cooperation between Vietnam and Laos , and its contributing to the economic development of Laos sociaty.
